2022 Prime Contracting Opportunity at the Kerr-McGee Superfund Site in Navassa

Prime Contracting Opportunity – Submit Your Firm’s Statement of Qualifications by November 30

The Multistate Trust expects to begin work to remediate Operable Unit 2 at the Kerr-McGee Chemical Corp. Superfund Site located in Navassa, North Carolina (the Site) in mid-2022. The work will include excavating surface soils that contain contaminants at concentrations that pose an unacceptable risk to human health and the environment. It is currently estimated that the excavation will cover 1.3 to 2.9 acres and remove 2,370 to 4,940 cubic yards of soils. Construction tasks are expected to include logging, vegetation clearing, excavation, off-Site disposal, Site security, erosion and sediment control, trucking/hauling, flagging/traffic control, backfilling, and Site restoration/seeding. Applicants must be able to execute the work using internal resources and/or through subcontracting.

In selecting the prime contractor bid, the Multistate Trust intends to prioritize those firms that are located in close proximity to the Site and that propose to use subcontractors that are similarly situated. Although work on similar environmental and/or construction projects will be an important consideration in qualifying for this work, training opportunities for the prime contractor and/or its subcontractors may be available, as needed, for firms with less experience. The Multistate Trust is committed to safety in the workplace and safety trainingand a proven safety track record will be required.

The Multistate Trust is seeking responses to this Request for Statement of Qualifications to identify firms qualified to serve as the prime contractor. Please submit a Statement of Qualifications in order to be considered during the upcoming bidding process. Firms that are situated in or near the Town of Navassa are strongly encouraged to submit a Statement of Qualifications. The deadline to submit a Statement of Qualifications is Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at 5 p.m. (EST). After Statements of Qualifications are submitted and evaluated, the Multistate Trust will notify those firms that qualify and issue a Request for Bid.
